According to industry insiders, many domestic catering businesses have already taken note of emerging trends in tableware. However, driven by cost considerations, most operators prioritize durability and wear resistance, while paying insufficient attention to the functional properties and safety of their tableware. As a result, the level of specialization in ceramic tableware among the majority of China’s restaurants remains in need of improvement.
Bamboo kitchenware is made from a natural, highly renewable material that can be put to use in as little as three to five years, thanks to bamboo’s rapid growth rate. As a result, bamboo kitchenware virtually eliminates the risk of resource depletion and helps reduce demand for wood resources. According to available data, among China’s bamboo tableware, single-use bamboo products account for the largest share at 36%, followed by chopsticks at 28%, and bamboo cutting boards at 11%.
Tableware is a consumer good in everyday life, and the industry’s development is closely linked to the level of economic growth. Since the reform and opening-up, China’s economy has sustained rapid expansion. At the same time, as urbanization rates and household consumption levels have continued to rise, the scale of the daily-use tableware and kitchenware sector has steadily expanded.
